Cindy Sanyu is set to headline this year’s first edition of the Bell Lager-sponsored Roast and Rhyme at Jahazi Pier Munyoyo, alongside an amazing lineup of artists and Kampala’s top DJs. We had a brief conversation with her, and here is what she had to say:

Some of the most anticipated experiences at every edition of Roast and Rhyme are top-notch live music performances and a roasted meat bonanza. As the queen herself, how do you plan to stand out at this edition of Roast and Rhyme?

My entire team and I are working hard to ensure that my fans get a unique Cindy experience at Roast and Rhyme. Reinventing yourself after about 20 years in the industry is not easy, especially because the industry is always evolving. So, I am adapting in every aspect to give my fans a special performance come the 3rd of March.

Have you ever attended any edition of Roast and Rhyme before? If yes, how would you describe your experience? If not, what are you looking forward to? This edition is my very first time showing up and performing; however, I have watched and enjoyed previous editions online. Since I have been part of the experience virtually, I am using those as benchmarks to see how I can bring a unique twist and provide enjoyment for my fans. I also expect great vibes because the atmosphere at Roast and Rhyme is joyful, with people coming to have fun. As an entertainer, this is important because when your vibe aligns with that of the crowd, it makes performing extremely easy and enjoyable.

The official enjoyment beer, Bell Lager, always ensures all revelers enjoy some of the best nyama at the event. What is your favorite nyama choma, and when did you last have it?

I am not a meat lover, but when I do eat it, I love me some wet-fried chicken any day, any time.

Roast and Rhyme has established itself over time as the ideal event to share a meal and some Bell Lager with friends. What’s your idea of enjoyment if you’re not performing?

As someone in the entertainment industry, you might think it’s partying or anything along those lines, but I enjoy talking and listening to people. If we can effectively communicate with each other, laugh about our worries, share a little advice, for me, that is better than anything else.
