An Ivorian football fan, who has turned out to be one of the most viral memes from the ongoing AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, is said to have broken his silence about his actions on the day his country eliminated defending champions Senegal on penalties.

Anselme Santos was captured on live TV making advances on a lady, said to be from Senegal. The video and screenshots of the moment have since gone viral on social media.

Many of you may have been wondering what the man was telling the lady.

Speaking during an interview with Actu Foot, a sports news channel, Santos said that he was asking for a contact number so that they could meet up after the game.

“I asked her for her number; it was euphoric. We started talking before and during the match. I was just asking for her number, no different thing. I apologize to the lady,” he said.

He further apologized to his family.

“I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the lady, my wife, and my children,” he said.
