Kiplimo wins 10KM Valencia Race

Ugandan long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo emerged triumphant at the Valencia Ibercaja 10-kilometre race held in Valencia on Sunday.

Kiplimo’s stellar performance not only secured his first-place finish but also positioned him close to breaking the world record set by Rhonex Kipruto in 2018.

The 10K race witnessed Kiplimo’s dominance from the very start, as he covered the initial 5 kilometres in an impressive 13 minutes and 30 seconds. Maintaining the lead throughout the race, Kiplimo crossed the finish line with a remarkable time of 26:53.

Birhanu Balew of Bahrain claimed the second spot with a time of 26:59, while Kenyan athletes Peter Mwaniki and Dennis Kibet secured the third and fourth positions, recording times of 27:00 and 27:03, respectively.

Another Ugandan athlete, Rogers Kibet, claimed the eighth position, completing the race in 27 minutes and 35 seconds.

In the women’s category, Joy Cheptoyek displayed exceptional prowess, finishing fifth with a time of 30 minutes and 12 seconds. The women’s race was won by Kenya’s Agnes Chebet.
