Uganda’s aviation industry has taken a significant leap forward with the official opening of the upgraded terminal building at Entebbe International Airport.

The newly revamped terminal, constructed by the UPDF Engineering Brigade, was opened to the public on Wednesday, marking a milestone in the airport’s development.

According to Vianny Lugya, the spokesperson for the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the state-of-the-art structure is seamlessly connected to the existing terminal building at the airport, enhancing the overall passenger experience during departures and arrivals.

Lugya stated, “The final phase of the project, involving the construction of a new terminal building connecting to the current terminal, is expected to be completed in July 2024.”

The public has expressed overwhelming excitement about this transformative development.

Paul Namanya exclaimed, “We finally have an airport terminal that looks like an airport terminal.”

“Are you sure that’s Entebbe, Uganda? It now looks like an airport in Dubai,” commented @Danstanoba.

Bradly Carl remarked, “I must admit this new face of Entebbe Airport looks international. It would be sad for it to flood during the rainy season after 12 months.”

@Brian pointed out, “The biggest challenge isn’t with the infrastructure but the employees at the airport.”

Tmusa Kasereka suggested, “That’s great, now the outside access areas and parking lots need to be tiled and beautified to provide a great experience for both locals and our guests.”

“But I hope they procure new luggage trolleys,” recommended Bwire Samia.

Hardian exclaimed, “Amazing, it doesn’t even look like Uganda.”

Duncan Abigaba reflected, “In 2014, I was escorting a Kenyan friend to the airport, and he told me that Entebbe wasn’t very impressive compared to Kisumu International Airport. It’s an insult I have lived with since. I am glad that today, Uganda has made progress thus far. Congratulations!”
