In a recent development, further details have emerged regarding the assassination attempt on the life of Aloysius Bugingo, the senior pastor of the House of Prayer Ministries.
On Tuesday night, unknown assailants on a motorcycle shot at Bugingo’s car, resulting in the death of his bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza.
While it has been stated that Muhumuza was a mere church member at Canaan Land, this website can confirm that he was a Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite force responsible for the security of the president.
According to the SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara, Muhumuza was their officer at the rank of corporal.
“It is true, he is ours. As SFC, we have launched an investigation into the matter to find out what exactly transpired,” Maj Omara said.
Muhumuza, who died at the age of 45 and had three children according to family members, has his body currently at Mulago City Mortuary pending a postmortem.
The UPDF will handle burial preparations, and he is scheduled to be laid to rest on Friday.
Meanwhile, investigations into the murder of Muhumuza and the attempted killing of Bugingo have kicked off.
