Police have initiated the hunt for a group of panga-wielding thugs who attacked the home of former Kawempe South Division MP Mubarak Munyagwa in Kimbejja Cell, Buddo ward, in Kyengera town council.

According to the police, the incident occurred last night at around 3 am.

It is reported that the former MP alerted Nsangi Police after suspecting individuals attempting to break into his home.

“A swift response led by the Division Police Commander prevented the assailants from gaining access to Hon Munyagwa’s home,” stated the police.

The police disclosed that during the incident, the security guard, Benjamin Mpaka, sustained a head injury from a sharp object. He was promptly transported to Mulago for medical treatment.

The police team introduced K9 units to the scene, although their efforts were hindered by heavy rain downpours.

“Despite the challenging weather conditions, one suspect attempting to flee the scene in a Datsun pick-up with registration number UAK 182A was apprehended,” reported the police.

The suspect is currently in custody, aiding ongoing police investigations.
