Police in Mityana district have arrested two suspects linked to the murder of Nakamatte Jesca, a 19-year-old resident of Kitavujja village, Sekanyonyi town council, Mityana district.
The arrested individuals are Muwonge Joseph, 25 years old and identified as the husband of the deceased, and Lwanga Simon, a witch doctor.
Muwonge was taken into custody on Monday following a tip-off from residents, leading the police to a shrine owned by Lwanga.
The discovery of Nakamatte Jesca’s decomposing body was reported to the police on November 7. The lifeless body was found around one of the rentals in the village, suggesting that the murder had taken place approximately two weeks prior.
“Preliminary findings indicated a potential connection between the victim’s tragic murder and domestic violence, with suspicion falling on her husband, Muwonge Joseph Kisenyi. This was further compounded by the fact that certain body parts, including the nose and tongue, were found missing,” stated the police.
The case file has been submitted to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further examination and possible legal action.
