The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the passing of their Second Vice President, Darius Mugoye. In a statement dated November 7, 2023, the Federation revealed that Mogoye breathed his last at Mengo Hospital.
“We are saddened by the news of the demise of the FUFA 2nd Vice President Mr Darius Mugoye which happened this morning (Tuesday 7th November 2023) at Mengo Hospital,” reads the official statement released by FUFA.
The statement also mentioned that further information about funeral arrangements for Mugoye will be communicated by the Federation in due course.
Mugoye, during his tenure this year, played an instrumental role in East Africa’s successful bid to host the AFCON 2027. He was selected by the Federation to be part of an eight-member committee responsible for overseeing the Pamoja bid, which ultimately secured the hosting rights for the prestigious African football event.
Outside his role at FUFA, Mugoye served as the proprietor of the lower division side, St. Mary’s New Hope FC. The club competes in the Lower Division, and it is affiliated with St. Mary’s SS in Nabweru, where Mugoye held the position of Director.
