The new Uganda Cranes head coach, Paul Joseph Put, has named Sam Ssimbwa Bamweyena as his assistant coach.
The decision was reached on Thursday during the official unveiling of the Belgian tactician as the new head coach of the Uganda Cranes.
Sam Ssimbwa, a CAF Certified coach, is set to commence his role immediately, as confirmed by FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein.
“FUFA has accepted the appointment of Sam Ssimbwa by Uganda Cranes Head Coach, and he will assume his new role without delay,” Hussein affirmed.
Hussein went on to say, “The additional Ugandan officials who will serve as part of the backroom staff will be announced in due course.”
Coach Put’s unveiling took place at the FUFA Complex on a two-year deal, and he brings a team of experienced individuals who will form the backbone of his coaching staff: Sven De Wilde-Performance Manager, Mathieu Denis -physical fitness Coach, Gery Osste- Goalkeeping Coach, Martin Michiel-Physiotherapist and Jelle Sevenhant-Video Analyst.
The newly appointed technical team will start their tenure with two FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches against Guinea and Somalia on 17th and 21st November 2023 respectively.
