In Spain, a man has been arrested for allegedly faking heart attacks in multiple restaurants as a trick to avoid paying his bills.
According to reports from various media platforms, the suspect, a 50-year-old man, targeted around 20 different restaurants across Spain, employing the same deceptive tactic after placing orders for food and drinks.
It’s been reported that each time, the man would dramatically clutch his chest and feign fainting on the floor. However, one vigilant restaurant owner saw through his act. This owner took photographs of the trickster and shared them with other local restaurants as a warning about the heart attack act.
The day of reckoning arrived when he visited El Buen Comer Restaurant. There, he ordered a meal of seafood paella and a few shots of whiskey. But when the waiter presented him with a bill totalling $37 (about Shs140k), he apparently launched into his heart attack performance once more.
This time, the police were called to the scene. Recognizing him from his previous incidents at other eateries in the city, the officers took him into custody.
According to reports, restaurant owners are now planning to file a collective complaint, which could result in the offender serving a minimum of two years in jail.
