The Secretary-General of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Nandala Mafabi, has issued a stern warning to leaders of the FDC Katonga faction, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who intend to take over the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, saying they should first sign their wills before attempting ‘raid’ Najjanankumbi.
Speaking to journalists at Patidar Samaj Sports Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, ahead of the party’s delegates’ conference, Mafabi said, “Let them sign their wills before they come. Nobody is going to play with FDC, and I want to tell Lukwago, let him be at the forefront, and I will show him who I am.”
Furthermore, Nandala Mafabi warned that he’s going to take legal action against the Katonga faction, which, according to him, is unlawfully using the FDC’s name.
He stated that FDC is a single party with its recognized headquarters in Najjanankumbi and does not have any factions.
“Katonga is a place for activism. I want to inform the people of Uganda that after today’s conference, we intend to address those who are using our name in Katonga as FDC. FDC is based in Najjanankumbi, and we have offices at the district, sub-county, parish, and village levels,” he said.
The FDC delegates’ conference is currently taking place at Lugogo Grounds, following the High Court’s dismissal of a petition filed by the Katonga faction to block it. Their claim was that the conference had been convened illegally.
