The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has appointed Morley Byekwaso and Fred Muhumuza as interim coaches for the national football team, Uganda Cranes.
This decision comes after the removal of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic from his position as head coach, along with his entire technical team, last month.
Byekwaso, who stepped down as the head coach of KCCA FC in April 2023 due to a series of disappointing results, currently serves as the assistant coach at SC Villa.
In an official statement released today, FUFA announced the formation of a temporary technical team, which will operate for one month, spanning from October 3 to October 31, 2023.
Byekwaso has been appointed as the Interim Head Coach, while Fred Muhumuza assumes the role of Interim Assistant Coach. They will receive support from Stephen Billy Kiggundu and Felix Ayobo, who will serve as interim goalkeeping and fitness coaches, respectively.
This interim coaching team will take charge of the Uganda Cranes during the upcoming international break this month. The team is scheduled to participate in two matches: one against Mali on October 13 in Bamako and another against Zambia in Dubai, UAE, on October 17, 2023.
Meanwhile, FUFA is currently in the process of selecting permanent coaches for the Cranes, with a total of 245 candidates applying for the head coach position.
