The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Moses Magogo, has disclosed that they are in discussions about jointly hosting the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2024.
The revelation comes just two days after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania would be jointly hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to Magogo, in line with their preparations for the 2027 AFCON, the three East African nations (Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania) are considering submitting a bid to host the 2024 CHAN tournament.
“We have informed CAF of our readiness as the three East African countries to host CHAN 2024 as a rehearsal for the 2027 AFCON,” he said.
CHAN is a biennial football tournament organized by CAF, featuring players who compete in the domestic leagues of their respective countries. The competition’s inception dates back to 2009, with Uganda having participated in all editions.
