Uganda Cranes forward Allan Okello has signed a three-year contract with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC. Okello joins Vipers as a free agent after leaving Algerian club Paradou AC.
The talented midfielder rose to prominence while playing for KCCA FC under coach Mike Mutebi. He made his debut in February 2017, showcasing his skills with a sensational hattrick against Onduparaka FC, contributing to a memorable 7-1 victory for KCCA.
His outstanding performances quickly caught the attention of clubs beyond Uganda’s borders. In 2020, Paradou AC secured his services on a four-year deal.
However, Okello returned to KCCA on loan last season, where he made a significant impact with eight assists and five goals before concluding his time at Lugogo.
The 23-year-old, who graduated from KCCA’s academy, has now joined Vipers on the deadline day of the Ugandan transfer market.
“I am delighted to join Vipers Sports Club! I am so excited to be here at this prestigious club, and I didn’t have to think twice when Vipers called me. I knew I wanted to sign for the club. I can’t wait to get started with the team,” Okello expressed his enthusiasm, as quoted on the Vipers’ website.
During his first stint with KCCA, Okello played 119 matches and scored 39 goals. He won two Uganda Premier League championships in the 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons, along with two Uganda Cups in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. He also clinched the 2018 FUFA Super 8 Cup and the 2018/19 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
In addition to these team achievements, Okello received several individual awards, including the 2019 FUFA Male Player of the Year, the 2018 Airtel Fans Favorite player award, and the 2018 Young Player of the Year.
