The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has announced the sacking of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic from his role as head coach of the Uganda Cranes.
In a statement released this evening, FUFA said, “FUFA and Mr. Milutin Sredojevic agreed to mutually end the existing employment contract between the two parties. FUFA appreciates all efforts and commitment by Milutin during his period as Head coach of Uganda Cranes.”
This decision comes in the wake of Uganda Cranes’ recent disappointment, as they fell short of qualifying for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast.
Nonetheless, Micho will forever hold a special place in Uganda’s football history as the man who guided the national team to a historic qualification for the 2017 AFCON, ending a 39-year drought. Unfortunately, his return as Cranes coach in July 2021 did not see him replicate the same success as in his earlier tenure.
