Police in Katonga and Mpigi district have arrested Forouzesh Patrick, a 53-year-old Italian national, a resident of Bunamweri village, Mpigi town council, on charges of allegedly raping a 23-year-old housemaid on September 5.
According to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the suspect initially met the victim at her sister’s residence in Mpami village, where the sister is involved in the chicken feed business. He offered the victim a job as a housemaid, with a promised monthly salary of Shs200,000.
The victim commenced her duties on September 4, but while she was cleaning a table, the suspect reportedly dragged her to a sofa and sexually assaulted her. The suspect claimed it was common to have sex during rain.
The victim informed her sister, leading to the reporting of the incident at Mpigi police station on September 6.
The victim underwent a medical examination, and DNA samples were collected for evidentiary purposes. The suspect was also subjected to examination.
“We continue to investigate such kind of suspects who take advantage of female workers, and sexually assault them. The police in coordination with the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), will ensure the suspect is charged to court, to help bring justice to the victim,” said Enanga.
