The State Minister for Microfinance, Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, was among the 42 individuals honoured with national medals during the Independence Day celebrations held in Kitgum District on Monday.
Kasolo’s recognition stemmed from his significant contribution to the advancement of Ugandans through the Emyooga program, which was launched by President Museveni in 2019. According to the Emyooga report, as of July 2022, a total of Shs248.7 billion had been disbursed, benefiting over 6,000 Emyooga Sacco groups and providing members with a combined loan amount of Shs213.39 billion.
Notably, Kasolo’s extensive travels across Uganda, spanning over 20,000 locations, have allowed him to promote the Emyooga program and encourage Ugandans to embrace a culture of saving.
In a recent visit to Katakwi district, Kasolo assessed the progress of the Emyooga initiative in the region, and it was reported to be thriving. To express their appreciation for his commendable efforts, Sacco members presented him with a bull.
Vice President Jesca Alupo, who also attended the event, praised Kasolo for his accessibility, attentive nature, and the substantial assistance he has provided to many Ugandans through the Emyooga program.
