Swangz Creative Academy celebrates graduation of second batch, nurturing creative talents

Swangz Avenue’s commitment to fostering creative talents reached a milestone as the academy celebrated the graduation of its second batch of students.

Established in 2022, the Swangz Creative Academy has emerged as a vital hub for nurturing young creatives in Uganda and beyond, providing them with essential training and support to cultivate their artistic potential and forge successful careers.

The graduation ceremony took place on Friday, where more than 50 students marked their achievements in fields such as audio production, video production, and graphic design. The event unfolded within the expansive confines of a Swangz Avenue film production warehouse in Ntinda.

Dignitaries from the creative industry graced the occasion, including luminaries like Anel Tunes, a celebrated Sound Mixing Engineer; Artin Pro, an accomplished music producer; and Raymond Malinga, a pioneering Ugandan filmmaker renowned for directing the first Ugandan animation featured on Disney Plus.

The Directorate of Industrial Training, under the Ministry of Education, presented certificates to the accomplished graduates, officially recognizing their dedication and accomplishments in their respective fields.

During the ceremony, industry leaders shared valuable insights to prepare the fresh graduates for their artistic journeys.

Julius Kyazze, the Business Development Manager of Swangz Avenue, likened the creative industry to a crucial facet of societal progress, emphasizing its profound impact on individuals’ lives and well-being.

Artin Pro, drawing from his experiences, highlighted the role of practice in honing one’s craft. He urged the young creatives to persevere and continuously refine their skills, as mastery comes from relentless dedication.

Anel Tunes echoed the sentiment of value creation, emphasizing that attracting success hinges on understanding the value one brings to the market. She urged the graduates to continuously enhance their skills through dedicated practice, debunking the notion of shortcuts.

Benon Mugumbya, Head of Production at Swangz Avenue, shared sage advice for navigating the unpredictable nature of the creative world. He encouraged resilience in the face of challenges, advocating for a constant hunger for learning and an openness to collaboration.

The Swangz Creative Academy, renowned for its diverse course offerings including audio production, cinematography, digital video editing, live broadcasting, scriptwriting, and film production, aspires to equip passionate students with the skills necessary for thriving in the creative arts industry.

The upcoming intake is slated for September 4th, with ongoing registration available at academy.swangzavenue.com.

The academy’s hands-on teaching approach, which constitutes 80% of the curriculum, ensures students engage deeply with practical applications while also undergoing theoretical assessments in a comprehensive question-and-answer format.
