Uganda’s national netball team, She Cranes, has made a powerful statement at the ongoing Netball tournament in Cape Town, South Africa, as they secured a commanding victory against Singapore with a scoreline of 79-37 in their opening game.
The match, which kicked off at 12 pm, saw the She Cranes initially struggle in the first quarter but quickly found their rhythm to establish a comfortable lead of 22-09 by the end of the quarter.
The girls continued to dominate in the second quarter, ending with a remarkable score of 42-18. Haniisha Muhammeed and Shadiah Nassanga displayed impressive goal-scoring prowess, netting 31 and 11 goals respectively in the first half.
After the halftime break, the She Cranes maintained their momentum, even with changes in the starting lineup. The team secured a substantial lead of 62-29 by the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the girls continued their relentless performance, securing a resounding victory with a final score of 79-37.
Up next, the She Cranes will face off against defending champions, New Zealand, in what promises to be an exciting showdown. They will then conclude their group D engagements with a match against Trinidad and Tobago on July 30.
Having participated in three World Cup tournaments before, Uganda’s She Cranes are determined to surpass their past achievements and progress beyond the group stages in their quest for victory in this tournament.
