A man identified as Robert Kamoga has been arrested by Buwamba-Matugga police after being discovered with the lifeless body of Stella Akwaso, aged 25, who was the wife of his friend.
According to reports, Kamoga secretly entered Akwaso’s house after realizing that she had accompanied her child, Vivian Namatovu, to school.
Upon Akwaso’s return, Kamoga, who had been hiding under the bed, locked the door and initiated a violent struggle with the intention of raping her.
It is alleged that Akwaso lost her life during the altercation. On the same day, one of Akwaso’s friends, Rebecca Nakandi visited Akwaso’s residence only to find the door locked.
Upon returning the following day and discovering the door still closed, Nakandi alerted the neighbours. Together, they decided to break a window, revealing the distressing sight of Akwaso’s unclothed body.
The neighbours promptly informed the Buwambo Police, led by Fredrick Ruteraho. They arrived at the scene and gained entry into the house, where they discovered Kamoga hiding beneath the bed.
Although Kamoga claimed to have accidentally caused Akwaso’s demise, he denied committing rape, despite the victim’s body being found unclothed.
It has been revealed that Kamoga was a friend of Akwaso’s husband, Ambrose Kibuuka, who is currently working abroad. Nakandi, a friend of the deceased, reportedly informed the police that Kamoga had previously attempted to rape Akwaso, but she had managed to overpower him on that occasion.
Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident saying that Kamoga is currently in custody at Matugga Police Station, while investigations into the incident continue.
