President Museveni has addressed the nation through his Twitter page, dismissing rumours of being bedridden in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and calling for ongoing prayers as he fights COVID-19.
Responding to claims, particularly from individuals outside Uganda, the President stated, “I also noticed some few individuals from, I think, Kenya, saying that I was in ICU, etc. If I was in ICU, the government would inform the country. What is there to hide?”
He emphasized that he has not been confined to a sickbed at home or hospitalized, whether in the ICU or any other ward. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers and reassured the public, saying, “Continue praying, and we shall overcome.”
The President shared that all the COVID-19 symptoms he had experienced have subsided, and he is currently engaged in administrative work.
“I would have left self-isolation, but when we checked on Sunday, I was still positive, although the other parameters were good,” he said.
Various social media platforms have been filled with reports claiming that Museveni’s health is deteriorating in the ICU. However, these reports are originating from foreign media sources.
