Sports Club Villa, the record holders of the Uganda Premier League with 16 titles, have officially announced Serbian coach Dusan Stojanovic as their new Head Coach.
Stojanovic, who previously worked with Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic at Zamalek and Zambia, has signed a two-year contract with the club. He replaces Jackson Magera, who unexpectedly departed despite a promising season. SC Villa, after a 19-year wait, had been in a commanding position to claim their 17th league title but finished third in the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League standings following a 1-0 defeat against URA FC in the last game of the season.
Acknowledging the rich history and tradition of SC Villa, Stojanovic expressed his understanding of the fans’ thirst for new success. He emphasized the responsibility that comes with wearing the club’s jersey and badge and emphasized the need to handle the pressure.
“I can assure you of hard work, and ultimately, the results and progress we make over time will speak for themselves,” Stojanovic stated confidently.
In addition to Stojanovic, the coaching staff at SC Villa will also include former KCCA FC coach Morley Byekwaso. Byekwaso, who resigned from KCCA FC in April 2023, has been appointed on a three-year contract and will oversee the development of the club’s junior teams.
With the arrival of Stojanovic and the coaching expertise of Byekwaso, SC Villa aims to rejuvenate its squad and set its sights on claiming the league title and adding to its rich legacy in Ugandan football.
