Members of Parliament from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have expressed their appreciation to Minister of State for Microfinance Haruna Kasolo Kyeyunye for advancing the Emyooga Initiative. This was during the ongoing NRM Parliamentary Caucus in Kyankwanzi on Tuesday.
The event brought together ministers and members of Parliament at the National Leadership Institute for a 10-day engagement with the Parliamentary caucus.
President Yoweri Museveni highlighted the significance of the Emyooga initiative, among other topics discussed at the gathering. He credited Minister Kasolo for advancing Emyooga. The Presidential initiative aims at creating wealth and jobs.
While addressing the caucus, Museveni emphasized the importance of leaders connecting with the people they represent, much like Kasolo has done.
Since the launch of Emyooga in 2019, Kasolo has actively engaged with the initiative’s progress. Rather than delegating supervision to his team, he personally interacts with the people, listening to their concerns and finding solutions. Emyooga has resulted in the development of individuals and Sacco groups across the country.
The ongoing 10-day caucus in Kyankwanzi brought together 400 members. The primary objective of the gathering is to review the country’s economic progress, discuss key trends, highlight successes and challenges, and propose solutions to uplift Ugandans out of poverty.
