A Kenyan man is in shock after his wife conceived, despite him undergoing a vasectomy procedure.

A video shared by Citizen Digital captured the man expressing his disbelief, explaining that they made a joint decision to opt for the procedure after already having three children and feeling content with their family size.

“We believed the procedure to be highly effective,” he shared.

According to the man, he underwent the vasectomy on July 12, 2022, and was informed that he would be considered safe after approximately 20 ejaculations, equivalent to roughly two months.

“In November, my wife’s menstrual cycle was delayed. We tested and confirmed she was pregnant. This came as an unexpected surprise,” he recounted.

The man further revealed that the doctor mentioned two potential reasons for the unexpected pregnancy: either some semen had remained in the reproductive ducts or the vasectomy procedure itself had not been successful.

“When we were advised to wait for the vasectomy to take full effect, my wife resorted to using daily contraceptive pills as an additional precaution,” he said.

According to medical experts, after a vasectomy, the sperm count in ejaculation gradually diminishes. It is advised for individuals to continue employing other birth control methods until a semen sample confirms the absence of sperm, a process typically taking around two months or approximately 20 ejaculations.
