Twitter has started removing the legacy blue checkmarks from high-profile accounts.
The blue ticks were verification badges which were obtained by Twitter users under the old system.
Elon Musk launched Twitter Blue last year after buying the social media platform for $44bn, introducing an $8 (about Shs30000) monthly charge for the blue tick as well as a number of other features.
He promised that Twitter users who got verified under the old regime will lose the coveted blue tick if they do not pay before April 20.
Celebrities around the world including Christiano Ronaldo, Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump, Justin Bieber, Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Davido among others have lost their badge.
Similarly in Uganda, prominent organisations and popular personalities have lost their checkmarks.
The popular people that have lost their badge include NUP president Bobi Wine, First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, veteran politicians Dr Kizza Besigye, and Gen Migisha Muntu.
Other personalities are; Faridah Nakazibwe, Jose Chameleone, Andrew Kabuura, Douglas Lwanga, Canary Mugume, and Daniel Lutaaya.
