Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Micheal Azira is the new head coach of Mississippi Brilla FC, the American club announced on Tuesday.
Azira, 35 officially retired from football last December and will now coach a side he previously played for in 2010.
Azira replaces Matt Horth, who recently accepted a new college coaching position that will prohibit his return to Mississippi this summer.
Azira had been named the first assistant for Brilla following his retirement from professional soccer in December.
Mississippi plays in the USL League 2, which serves as the fourth tier in the USA. The club will kick off its 16th year in USL2 with an away game against Texas United on May 20.
Azira played 10 games for the Uganda Cranes between 2016 and 2021. He featured at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.
