National Unity Platform (NUP) Members of Parliament, Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Mohammed Ssegirinya of Kawempe North are expected back in Parliament today.
Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana, who had been on remand at Kigo since September 2021, were granted bail on February 13 by Justice Lawrence Tweyanze.
The two are battling terrorism and murder charges that happened in Masaka in 2021.
“This is going to be a grand reappearance for me and my friend Ssewanyana. We have been away for almost two years and we have a lot of work to do,” said Ssegirinya yesterday.
Last week, the two MPs addressed the media at NUP headquarters in Kamwokya, where they claimed that being imprisoned for over a year has not diminished their commitment to defending the rights of regular Ugandans.
