In Kenya, a female employee was fired for allegedly calling the male junior staff members nicknames, which the employer deemed to be sexual harassment.
According to Kenyan news websites, the woman was fired by Kituo cha Sheria after a male employee reported sexual harassment for allegedly being called a “baby boy”; her name has been withheld for legal reasons and to protect her dignity.
She was working as a programme coordinator until November 2022, when she was sacked.
However, the woman filed a lawsuit against Kituo cha Sheria, claiming that she had been fired unfairly.
In her suit, the woman alleged a breach of rights and freedoms by the organization. She asked the court to order the organization not to hire another person to take her place.
Apparently, the woman’s attempt to suspend her employment termination was unsuccessful.
