Following Eddy Kenzo’s comment that he is bigger than the late, legendary Philly Bongole Lutaaya because he has more views on YouTube than the late, legendary singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone, has said that Kenzo used the wrong parameters to compare himself to the late Philly.
“Eddy Kenzo is my friend and we have a lot in common so I don’t want to blow my own trumpet. We have flown private jets when there was no Instagram. I am older than Instagram, I am older than Facebook. We grew up in a non-digitized generation that wasn’t a digital generation,” said Chameleone.
Chameleone, who has been in the industry for 25 years, believes that people shouldn’t be comparing numbers on a generation that wasn’t digital.
“But Philly Lutaaya is a man whose music was played on cassette. He only released one song on the CD called Alone and Frightened so, you can’t compare a French haircut to a marine so, so comparing numbers doesn’t count,” he said.
He explained that nowadays he even doesn’t believe in social media numbers because some musicians buy views.
“I also sang a Christmas song. But every Christmas, they play Philly Lutaya’s songs. Today you can buy followers on YouTube or any other platform you can buy followers, you can buy likes… those are the musicians that release a video, and in one day it has 10 million views,” he said.
He further revealed the reason why he never buys views.
“I can also buy them because I know how they do it, but I don’t want to because I am organic,” said Chameleone.
