While musician Big Eye is making fun of Grammy Award nominee Eddy Kenzo for not sharing his international “contacts and connections,” singer Maggie Kayima, better known by her stage name Nabbi Omukazi, has asserted that she has “contacts” with Grammy Award winner Tems.

Last Sunday, the Nigerian female singer won her first Grammy for her contribution to Future’s ‘Wait For U,’ which also features Drake.

Tems won in the category of Best Melodic Rap Performance over artists like Latto (“Big Energy (Live)”, Jack Harlow (“First Class”), Kendrick Lamar (“Die Hard”), and DJ Khaled (“Beautiful”).

Maggie Kayima congratulated Tems while recalling their first meeting.

Maggie Kayima.

“We shared the same cell and the same mattress in Kigo women’s prison; we connected as we were both writers, guitarists, and producers.

“We promised to sing together when we got out. She came out first and left me with her mattress and the rest of her staff she had in prison. I was so happy and proud to see her win a Grammy and making history and I know we will reunite soon because we even promised to tattoo our prison numbers on our arms? This is TEMS ladies and gentlemen,” she said.

The two were incarcerated in 2020, with Tems accused of breaking Ugandan COVID-19 regulations while Maggie was accused of fraud.

The fact that Tems performs R&B Afrobeats and Maggie Kayima does Kadongo Kamu, makes us wonder how the two might collaborate.
