Turkish airlines plane this morning suffered a bird strike as it departed Entebbe Airport for Istanbul, Turkey.
A “bird strike” is a collision between a bird and an aircraft. Bird strikes can damage aircraft components or injure passengers.
According to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Turkish Airlines flight number 606 with 281 passengers departed Entebbe at 7.30 am for Istanbul while it was raining.
“Unfortunately, the aircraft experienced a bird strike during take-off. As a precautionary measure, the flight hovered in the Ugandan airspace before landing safely at Entebbe at 08:52 am,” said UCAA in a statement.
The aircraft is being checked for airworthiness before resuming the flight.
