25-year-old man sentenced to 105 years in prison for killing four girlfriends, baby

High Court in Kampala has sentenced a one Musa Musasizi, aged 25  to 105 years in prison for killing his four girlfriends and a baby in Nakulabye, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

Musasizi was arrested on March 14, 2021. This happened after five women and a three-month-old baby died in the area.

He pleaded guilty before the trial Judge Margaret Mutonyi, who then convicted him. The court heard that Musasizi killed Noreen Nabirye with intent on March 14, 2021. He also murdered Violet Kansiime, Abigail Nakitende on March 12, and Elizabeth Mutesi on March 15, 2021.

In another case, Musasizi and 23-year-old ‘boda boda’ rider Abdul Kasaija, also from Rubaga Division, were jointly charged with the murder of Mackline Ahereza on February 22, 2021. Kasaija was accused of being an accessory to murder for allegedly helping Musaizi dispose of Ahereza’s body to help him escape punishment.

During the court hearing, it was revealed that Musasizi would get close to the victims, have relations with them, and then kill them by either hitting them on the head with a blunt object or strangling them. He would later burn their bodies in places near each other in Nakulabye.

Musasizi confessed to the police that he suspected Ahereza of having another boyfriend, leading him to kill her. He also said he strangled Kansiime, dumped her body, and upon returning home, he strangled her three-month-old baby. Additionally, he strangled Mutesi after a disagreement when she refused Shs50,000 he offered her as transport after their encounter.

Police found clothes belonging to Musasizi’s victims in his neighbour’s latrine.

The judge ruled that Musasizi would serve his sentences one after the other. She suggested that he could appeal the sentence but not the conviction since he had pleaded guilty.
