Suspected ADF rebel arrested in Jinja while posing as a homeless person

Police in Jinja have arrested one Nyanzi Levi David Mwenze after receiving reports of his suspicious behavior, which involved taking pictures of the Embassy Restaurant and Bar along Iganga Road in Jinja Central Ward, Jinja City.

According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the suspect, who had disguised himself as a homeless person, was dressed in very dirty clothes and was found in possession of bundles of cash in denominations of Shs50,000, Shs20,000, and Shs10,000.

Enanga further revealed that, upon searching the suspect, he was found with various exhibits, including AK47 bullets, four SIM cards, eight Jinja City street parking receipts for motor vehicle registration number UBK 620F, three other SIM cards, and a school receipt from Victoria Boarding Primary School.

“The suspect admitted that he was an ADF rebel on a surveillance mission,” said Enanga. He added that the suspect was examined by a psychiatrist and found to be mentally stable.

“Efforts are in place to trace other members of their cell in Jinja City,” he said.
