A man in Kaliro District has committed suicide by hanging after his wife, Juliet Namugere, refused to prepare chicken.

The man has been identified as Franco Mulao, aged 27, a resident of Mawumo village, Lwakakamwa parish in Kaliro district.

It is alleged that on December 1, Mulao returned home around 7 pm craving chicken. He ordered his wife to slaughter it, but she refused. Out of anger, he grabbed a rope and went outside.

The wife attempted to locate him afterwards and only discovered his lifeless body hanging from a tree in the garden the following morning.

“Members of the public should always seek counselling in case of stress instead of resorting to taking their own lives,” said Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson.

The authorities have conducted a postmortem at Bumaana Health Centre III, and Mulao’s body has been released to his relatives for burial.
