Karim Somani and Katy Kabenge had the last laugh at the Tusker Malt-sponsored Serena Mug of Mugs 2023, which was held at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa on Saturday.
The competition presented challenging conditions of play, given the rainy season that turned let’s of the course soggy, but golfers were up for the task, as they displayed skills on the lustrous greens, with precision and strategic decision-making on every hole.
The mode of play was Medal, Full Handicap.
In a display of exceptional skill and composure, Karim Somani emerged as the overall winner in the Men’s category, amassing an impressive 41 points, playing off handicap 11.
He collected 21 points from the front 9, and another 20 points from the back, proving to be a well-rounded performance that secured his victory.
In the Ladies’ category, Katy Kabenge was a class above the rest, taking all honours as the overall winner.
Kabembe who played off handicap 15, returned 23 points. She had a balanced performance that propelled her to the summit with 12 points from the front, and 11 at the back.
The other noteworthy winner of the day included m Brian Rwabogo, who won the nearest to the Pin prize that was on Hole 11, while Samuel Ssejjaka’s powerful drive on Hole 10 earned him the Longest Drive prize.
After an eventful day, steadily navigating and conquering the greens, golfers and guests were welcomed to the 19th hole by an amazing Tusker Malt setup that had a fully stocked bar, with some tasty offerings.
Guests sipped away on the tasty complimentary cocktails that tantalized their taste buds.
