ADF rebels who killed tourists in Queen Elizabeth National Park killed– UPDF

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson, Colonel Deo Akiiki, has said that their joint intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday resulted in the death of several ADF rebels on Lake Edward, near the Kayanja Landing site in Kasese district.

This operation comes in the wake of the rebels’ involvement in the killing of two foreign tourists and their Ugandan guide in Queen Elizabeth National Park last month, an incident that garnered international attention and condemnation.

Akiiki confirmed the success of their operation, stating, “It is true that some ADF terrorists, whom we have been tracking since the attack on our tourists, finally boarded their boat, and a significant number of them were eliminated last night.”

He further disclosed that the pursuit of the ADF splinter groups is ongoing.

Last month’s incident in Queen Elizabeth National Park reportedly involved ADF rebels who killed the two foreign tourists and their Ugandan guide before setting their vehicle ablaze.

President Yoweri Museveni condemned the actions of the ADF rebels and issued a stern warning, declaring that the group would face severe consequences for their actions.
