The inaugural Bell Lager ObaFest beer festival, held at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo on Sunday, brought together a lively mix of music, art, fashion, and East African culture. The festival’s aim was to celebrate the diversity of the region through various activities, with beer serving as a unifying element.

As soon as you entered Jahazi, you were greeted by vibrant displays representing various African cultures. Different cultural groups were there to welcome festival-goers with their performances.

Delicious East African cuisines were in abundance, featuring favourites like Ugali (posho), Nyama Choma (Grilled Meat), Wali na Maharage (Rice and Beans), Rolex (Chapati and Eggs), Samosas, and Mandazi.

Harmonize was a vibe.

Fik Fameica, Spice Diana, Azawi, and Tanzania’s Harmonize added their energy to the already lively crowd.

For beer enthusiasts, the festival featured a diverse range of brews from Uganda Breweries Limited, including Bell Lager, Tusker, Guinness, Pilsner, and more.

In addition to the beer offerings, Johnnie Walker hosted a “Walker Town” where attendees could relish a variety of cocktails.

Notably, this was the first disability-inclusive festival in Uganda, with sign language interpreters available to assist people with disabilities.
