President Yoweri Museveni, also the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, has delivered a message of reassurance to the nation in response to recent terror threats and foiled bomb attacks in different parts of the city.

In a televised address, Museveni shared his plans to address the situation and urged vigilance among citizens.

Museveni revealed that they have identified the planners behind these bomb attacks, locating them in neighbouring Congo. He said that the Congolese government has granted permission for Uganda to pursue these individuals, who are allegedly affiliated with the ADF rebels.

“The planners are in Congo, and we are going after them. The Congo government has allowed us, and we are determined to eliminate these ADF rebels,” Museveni said.

He sought to reassure the public that the current situation does not represent a significant escalation of the ADF rebel threat. “This is not a big problem. Don’t panic; this is the tail end of the ADF rebels. It’s not the beginning, not the expansion, and not the growth,” he stated.

Despite his reassurances, President Museveni urged Ugandans to exercise extra vigilance and introduced measures to combat terrorism within the country. He advised that all establishments, including churches, bars, and hotels, should implement thorough security checks on all unfamiliar individuals.

“For hotels and lodges, take the particulars of your guests and ensure they provide identification with photographs,” Museveni recommended.

The President’s address comes as the nation remains on edge following the recent terror-related incidents.
