Uganda Airlines launches direct flights to India’s Mumbai

Uganda Airlines has unveiled plans to introduce a new route connecting Uganda to Mumbai, India.  The airline will inaugurate a series of three weekly direct flights from Entebbe to Mumbai, India starting this September.

Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Executive Director of Uganda Airlines, made the announcement, expressing enthusiasm over the rekindling of a direct flight route between Uganda and India after a lapse of four decades.

The airline is poised to embark on its inaugural journeys to Mumbai on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, presenting a streamlined travel option for both Ugandan and Indian passengers.

The introduction of this route holds particular significance due to the substantial Indian community in Uganda, numbering around 35,000.

Upender Singh Rawat, the Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, lauded this development as a bridge to diverse opportunities. Direct flights are anticipated to catalyze a range of advantages, including enhanced access to medical services, expanded avenues for business engagements, and elevated prospects for tourism.

Uganda Airlines, which marked its reestablishment in 2018, took to the skies in 2019 with an initial fleet of two aircraft. Since then, the airline has undergone remarkable growth, expanding its fleet to encompass six aircraft, facilitating flights to approximately 20 destinations.
