Speaker Among’s expansive residence in Bukedea; here are the details

Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has offered a sneak peek into her expansive mansion. The Speaker’s country home is located in Ayereyere village, Kamutur Sub-County, Bukedea District in Eastern Uganda.

The mansion has quickly become a subject of fascination and discussion.

The unveiling of this opulent residence unfolded during the Thanksgiving ceremony over the weekend. Speaker Among hosted a gathering of more than 200 members of parliament.

The MPs, amidst an air of admiration, posed for photographs against the backdrop of the impressive structure.

It was the mansion’s imposing whitish exterior that left netizens in awe, evoking comparisons to presidential residences.

Completed just this year, the mansion is reported to have about 65 self-contained rooms, two swimming pools, a basketball court, a gym, an expansive parking area, a farm, and a helipad.

The designed balcony, adorned with lush greenery, adds an extra touch of elegance.

However, as with any lavish display of opulence, the multi-billion mansion has not been without its critics. Public outcry has surfaced.

Vannessa Kuroh said, “Similar to the fervour seen with the Nakivuubo billionaire’s less aesthetically pleasing residence adorned with ostentatious Louis Vuitton carpets, let us maintain the same level of scrutiny for the Bukedea mansion.”

Godwin Toko, reflecting on the socio-economic landscape, remarked, “In a time when the economy’s grip is tightening for many Ugandans, the Speaker of Parliament’s substantial abode serves as a stark reminder of the divergent narratives within our society. Congratulations to the Iron Lady of Africa on this achievement.”

Magret Abwoyo said, “This conspicuous exhibition of wealth might inadvertently amplify the prevalence of corruption among government officials, as the allure of emulating the Speaker’s country home becomes irresistible.”
