Security guard shoots boda boda rider in buttocks following dispute over torn money

A private security guard has been arrested by the police in Kampala after he shot a boda boda rider in the buttocks during a confrontation at a fuel station.

The incident occurred at Stabex fuel station in Nangabo, Kasangati town council at 6 am. The boda boda rider, identified as Kamada Ssemakula, had gone to purchase fuel for his motorcycle when a dispute arose over a torn Shs10000 note that he presented for payment.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, after a disagreement with the fuel station attendant over the validity of the torn note, Ssemakula attempted to ride away from the fuel station, prompting security guard Joshua Kiplangat from Knigts Security Company Limited to intervene.

The injured rider was rushed to Mulago Hospital for medical treatment, while the security guard was taken into custody by the police.
