In a gripping match at Kigali Pele Stadium on Sunday, the Uganda Women’s National Team, known as the Crested Cranes, showcased their tenacity as they triumphed over Rwanda, securing their place in the second round of the 2024 Paris Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers.

With both teams eager to secure their progression, the tension was palpable throughout the match.

In the 10th minute of extra time, Fazila Ikwaput emerged as the hero for Uganda, unleashing a powerful low drive into the bottom left corner of the net, propelling her team into the lead and securing their well-deserved victory.

The win propels Crested Cranes to the second qualification round, where they are set to face Cameroon in October.
