A 56-year-old man from Ibanda district, located in western Uganda, has committed suicide after brutally murdering his wife. The incident happened when Bernard Muhwezi, allegedly driven by a dispute over money, murdered his wife, Octavia Atuhaire.

According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region police spokesperson, initial investigations reveal that the couple had become embroiled in a heated argument concerning funds Muhwezi had acquired from the sale of over 100 kilograms of coffee. The disagreement escalated, resulting in a loss of life.

Following the horrific act, Muhwezi concealed himself in the nearby bushes. It was under the cover of darkness, as the majority of people in the vicinity slept, that he emerged to end his own life through hanging.
