In a crucial match that could determine their Africa Cup of Nations fate, the Uganda Cranes have suffered a 2-1 defeat against Algeria, putting their qualification hopes in jeopardy.

Algeria’s Mohammed Amoura proved to be the difference maker with a brilliant brace, while Fahad Bayo managed to find the back of the net for the Uganda Cranes in the game played this evening in Cameroon.

With this loss, the Cranes now find themselves three points behind Tanzania in Group F, leaving them with a daunting task to secure their place in the tournament.

Uganda Cranes starting eleven against Algeria.

To keep their dreams alive, they must defeat Niger in their final game next week and hope for a favorable outcome as Tanzania takes on Algeria, a team already guaranteed a spot in the finals.

Following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Niger in Dar es Salaam earlier today, Tanzania climbed to seven points, putting them in a strong position. The Taifa Stars now only require a draw in their last match against Algeria to secure their qualification for next year’s tournament. Unfortunately for Niger, their hopes have been dashed as they are now out of the qualification race.

The Uganda Cranes face a challenging road ahead as they fight to keep their AFCON 2023 dreams alive. Their final match against Niger will be a must-win situation, and they will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of the Tanzania-Algeria clash, hoping for a favorable result to turn their fortunes around.
