Nansana Police Division has arrested five panga-wielding thugs in an operation conducted based on intelligence information. The gang is said to be responsible for a series of robberies.

During the operation, Ssabagereka Julius was arrested after being found in possession of a stolen television. His arrest proved to be a breakthrough in the investigation as he provided vital information that led to the capture of additional suspects, according to the police.

Among those detained are Isingoma Lwegaba, also known as Wasswa, Ddumba Faizo, known as General Faizo, Muwonge Joseph, and Mutebe John.

According to the police, these individuals have been identified as key members of the criminal gang operating in Nansana Division and its surrounding areas.

The police further revealed that their thorough investigations have exposed the gang’s involvement in various criminal activities, including the theft of televisions, mobile phones, and cash.

The gang’s modus operandi involves closely monitoring individuals in bars and subsequently ambushing them on their way home, taking advantage of their vulnerability. This has resulted in a significant rise in reported cases of theft in the area.

The police were able to recover items, including two televisions, two pangas that were used in the robberies, and four suspected stolen mobile phones. However, it was disclosed that the leader of the gang, Lukwago Abbu, alias Abasi, is still at large.

The police assured the public that they are actively pursuing leads to locate and apprehend Abasi, along with any other associates and promoters connected to this criminal network.
