Security operatives from the Criminal Intelligence Department, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, and Crime Intelligence have arrested four suspects linked to the fatal shooting of Mukisa Ronnie, a 43-year-old lawyer at IBC Advocates in Makindye.

Among the arrested suspects are Karedou Robert Irama, his wife Nalwoga Brenda Cathy, Anyuse Max Geoffrey (a deserter from the UPDF and self-proclaimed bodyguard to Karedou), and Irama Vincent, a police officer stationed with Kampala Metropolitan Police North. They are currently being held at separate locations.

According to Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, investigations revealed that the deceased lawyer had a prior connection with Karedou Robert and his wife. However, their relationship soured due to a business dispute, alleging that the victim had defrauded them of over $1 million (approximately Shs3.7 billion).

Enanga explained that the disgruntled couple enlisted the help of their acquaintance, SP Irama Vincent, who was a police officer, to orchestrate the murder. Additionally, they hired Anyuse Max as a hitman. On May 30, 2023, the deserter obtained a firearm he had acquired during his desertion from the Democratic Republic of Congo and followed the victim in his dark blue Subaru Legacy (registration number UBJ 006K) to his residence in Kitiko-Birongo, Ndejje Division.

At the gate, the assailant fired four fatal shots at the victim, killing him instantly. Subsequently, he made his escape on a waiting motorcycle and contacted Nalwoga Brenda to inform her of the successful mission, as revealed by Enanga.

The joint security task force successfully apprehended Karedou, Nalwoga, and Anyuse at their residence in Kasana LC I, Kulambiro. A subsequent search of their premises resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 magazines with 52 rounds of ammunition, military uniforms, and other incriminating evidence.

Enanga further disclosed that Anyuse initially admitted to carrying out the shooting with a weapon supplied by SP Irama. However, he later recanted his statement and assisted the investigation team in locating the abandoned firearm, which was found hidden behind his rented apartment in Kitiko-Birongo.

During interrogation, the hitman revealed that SP Irama Vincent had orchestrated the murder plot. Consequently, the task force apprehended SP Irama at Kawempe Police Station. A search of his known locations led to the discovery of an official pistol and an AK-47 rifle, along with 30 rounds of ammunition. Notably, two of the bullets had been replaced.

All the recovered firearms and ammunition have been handed over to ballistic experts for forensic examination. Furthermore, on June 12, 2023, an additional suspected murder weapon was discovered and will also undergo ballistics testing.

The tragic incident unfolded on May 30 when Mukisa was fatally shot at his residence in Kitiko Birongo, Ndejje Division, Makindye Sebagabo.
