2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Allan Okello, Anukani dropped as Micho names final squad for Algeria encounter

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named the final squad that will face Algeria in the penultimate game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Following an intense ten-day training camp in Kampala, the coach has selected 23 players who will depart for Cameroon on Friday morning. Micho dropped 19 players.

Some of the notable players who have been dropped include Isma Watenga, Bright Anukani, Allan Okello, Hillary Mukundane, Moses Opondo, Musa Ramathan, Ashraf Mandela, and Musa Ramathan.

The Uganda Cranes are set to host Algeria on June 18, 2023, at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

The squad consists of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and seven forwards.

Before the Algeria match, the team will engage in a friendly fixture against the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Wednesday, June 14, as a warm-up for the upcoming game.

In Group F, Uganda currently occupies the third position with four points, on par with Tanzania. Algeria leads the group with 12 points, while Niger sits at the bottom with two points.
