Kato Lubwama’s immense talent transcended boundaries, showcasing his prowess as a playwright, producer, singer, songwriter, actor, and politician. He left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry, bringing laughter and joy to countless individuals.

Veteran actor Phillip Luswata shared, “Finding someone as extraordinarily talented as Kato Lubwama is a rarity. His versatility as an actor, playwright, producer, singer, and songwriter was unparalleled. The arts community mourns this immeasurable loss.”

The former Rubaga South MP fearlessly spoke his mind, leaving a trail of memorable and humorous quotes. Today, we remember some of his most iconic remarks following his unexpected passing at the age of 52.

One of Lubwama’s unforgettable quotes emerged when he grappled to articulate his vision for the Democratic Party in English. With a touch of humour, he said, “Democratic Party should be as the name is sounded.”

When asked about his ambitions in parliament after his election in 2016, Lubwama unapologetically stated, “Definitely, I am not here to suffer; I am here to enjoy life. We are all in politics for money. We are like traders.”

During the 2021 campaigns, Lubwama amusingly urged his constituents in Rubaga to vote for him again, stating, “I told my people in Rubaga to vote for me so that I can also eat, but I’ve finished eating. Now I want them to vote for me so that we can eat together this time.”

In his trademark candid style, Lubwama boldly claimed that he achieved everything he desired during his tenure as a representative for Rubaga South.

When questioned about his lack of participation in Parliament during an interview with NTV Uganda’s Faridah Nakazibwe, Lubwama humorously responded, “I didn’t say anything in Parliament because of my educational background. I feared being questioned again, so I chose silence.”

Lubwama, fondly referring to himself as “Team Kawumbi” at the time of his passing, will forever be cherished for his exceptional wit, humour, and remarkable talents. His legacy as a multifaceted entertainer will continue to inspire and bring laughter to generations to come.
