Medipal International Hospital, a prominent private medical facility located in upscale Kololo, Kampala, has been evicted by the management of Tembo Steels (U) Ltd (the building’s owners) due to unpaid rent arrears amounting to UGX 1.3 billion. The eviction notice was served to Dr. Adnan Khan, the proprietor of the hospital.

The eviction was enforced by Securex a private security company, whose guards closed the hospital earlier today, leaving only one exit point for both patients and medics at the facility.

In an eviction notice served to the hospital proprietor Dr Adnan Khan, the rent arrears had been accumulating since June of last year, and the tenant had promised to clear the outstanding amount by September the same year. Despite numerous reminders and meetings, Medipal failed to fulfill its payment obligations.
