Forest Whitaker: Hollywood Actor Visits Uganda for Peace and Development Initiatives

Renowned Hollywood actor Forest Steven Whitaker is currently on a private visit to Uganda.

The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities announced his presence in the country on Tuesday, specifically in Moroto District, where he is overseeing various peace and development initiatives.

Forest Whitaker, widely recognized for his exceptional performance in the critically acclaimed film “The Last King of Scotland,” portraying former Ugandan President Idi Amin Dada, has received numerous international accolades for his portrayal.

However, his connection with Uganda extends beyond his acting career. Whitaker has been actively supporting youth projects in Northern Uganda through the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI), a non-governmental organization he founded in 2012.

During his visits to Uganda, Whitaker has dedicated much of his time to humanitarian work. WPDI focuses on implementing peace-building programs in communities affected by conflicts worldwide. These programs concentrate on training young individuals in conflict resolution and fostering economic development in affected regions.

In addition to his work-related commitments, Whitaker will explore various parts of Uganda, revelling in the country’s breathtaking natural beauty, including its diverse flora and fauna.
